The Commando is a human class in Dinogen Online. It is designed to be an explosive expert and excels best at close-to-mid combat ranges.
The Commando class has exclusive access to the Submachine Gun and the Launcher. It also gets access to the Tactical Flamethrower, as well as the M18 Claymore, C4, and Bouncing Betty. Unlike other classes' equipment, which shares Tactical XP, the Commando has its own 'Explosive XP' tracker, which is different from the grenade slot Explosive XP tracker.
Loadout Overview[]
The commando class gets explosives in spades and should certainly be using this to their advantage! Launchers come in a variety of flavours, from single-shot large explosive to multi-shot small explosive, to lock-on rocket launchers. Do note that lock-on weapons, once locked on, will travel through walls to reach their target! Tactical slot explosives, on the other hand, are better suited to defensive applications, as they need time and a good position to be used well. While they can be used offensively, they can be shot, causing them to explode immediately - so do not throw them at someone shooting at you!
The commando's primary weapon, the SMG, is meant to compliment your launcher rather than being a 'primary weapon' in its own right. To that end, this class of weapons boast fast movement rates, acceptable damage and a high rate of fire. They have a relatively poor range though, so are best suited for close-up work. This allows for quick positioning for your explosives while also allowing you to deal with someone who gets too close to deal with explosives.
Loadout Examples[]
Role: Demolitionist[]
The demolitionist focuses on volume of explosives to blow his objective up. Quantity over quality is preferred, and if played well keeps explosive options available for the longest amount of time. They still run out quite quick though!
Anti-Personnel:[]
- Primary: Vector. Slap on a Mag Assist, FMJ, Heavy Barrel or Muzzle Break, and an optic if you feel fancy.
- Secondary: M32 MGL or GM-94. One gets lots of small grenades, the other gets fewer, bigger grenades. Pick the one that works for you. You will need a Mag Assist for both of these. HE rounds are optional, but get extended rounds if you don't.
- Melee: Katana or Sledgehammer. You're not as effective this close as you'll blow yourself up (unless in survival), so drop your enemy quickly and retreat to a safe distance.
- Equipment: C4. It's a free grenade that goes boom when you tell it to, so you can use it offensively or defensively as the need arises. a bullet will make it explode though, so watch it if you throw it into a contested area.
- Grenade: ET-MP synergises best with the rest of your grenades, but anything works well.
Anti-Dino:[]
- Primary: Pick something that fires fast and has decent damage. You lack any good options for dinos that get close to you as a commando, so don't let them get this close. Your Vector will work in a pinch.
- Secondary: XM-25. Provides a good balance between damage, ammo, explosive radius, and reload speed. Empty the clip into a dangerous area.
- Melee: Crowbar. This has good penetration so it can weed out large numbers of weak dinos. Anything bigger will chomp you no matter what you've got.
- Equipment: Claymore. Dinos have to come to you, so this makes a good welcoming gift for them.
- Grenade: M67 or Napalm. The former is better for straight damage and gives you options your launcher won't, the latter gives greater flexibility.
